The objective of the thesis’ research work is to test the integration of optical and SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellite data for natural resources monitoring. Two different applications were considered; monitoring vegetation disturbances, specifically mapping the areas affected by wildfires in Mediterranean regions of southern European states, and crop mapping in northern Italy.
