Attività

Le attività di ricerca si inquadrano principalmente nel settore del bioelettromagnetismo e riguardano, in particolare:

  • progettazione e realizzazione di generatori di impulsi elettrici ultracorti e relativi sistemi di esposizione per colture cellulari;
  • dosimetria elettromagnetica numerica e sperimentale per la caratterizzazione e messa a punto di sistemi per l’esposizione di colture cellulari a campi elettromagnetici a RadioFrequenza;
  • caratterizzazione elettromagnetica di materiali per applicazioni biomediche.
  • valutazione del rischio occupazionale da esposizione ai campi elettromagnetici associati ad apparati per imaging a risonanza magnetica
  • misure di campi elettromagnetici indoor ed outdoor

Curriculum - ITA

Stefania Romeo ha conseguito la laurea specialistica (con lode) in Ingegneria Biomedica nel 2008  presso l'Università di Napoli Federico II, ed il Dottorato di Ricerca in Ingegneria Elettronica nel 2012 presso la Seconda Università di Napoli. Da Settembre 2010 a Marzo 2011 è stata visiting scholar presso il Dip. di Ingegneria Elettrica ed Elettrofisica della University of Southern California, Los Angeles, studiando le applicazioni biologiche di impulsi di alta tensione ai nanosecondi. Nel mese di Maggio 2014 è stata visiting scientist presso l'Università di Copenhagen (Herlev Hospital) per una short term scientific mission nell'ambito dell'azione COST TD1104 EP4Bio2Med - European network for development of electroporation-based technologies and treatments (il report delle attività svolte è consultabile al link http://electroporation.net/STSM-reports ). A settembre 2015, nell'ambito del "1st World Congress on Electroporation and Pulsed Electric Fields in Biology, Medicine and Food & Environmental Technologies", Stefania Romeo ha ricevuto il secondo premio, nella categoria relativa alle applicazioni biomedicali, della Young Investigator Competition riservata a giovani ricercatori under 35.

Da Giugno 2012 al 14 Marzo 2016 è stata Assegnista di Ricerca presso l'IREA, mentre dal 15 Marzo 2016 è Ricercatore a tempo determinato presso lo stesso istituto.

L'attività di ricerca di Stefania Romeo rientra nell'ambito del Bioelettromagnetismo e comprende lo sviluppo di generatori di impulsi di alta tensione con durate nel range dei ns per applicazioni biologiche in vitro e biomedicali, l'utilizzo di tecniche di dosimetria numerica e sperimentale per l'esposizione di colture cellulari a campi elettromagnetici a Radiofrequenza, la misura dei livelli di campo elettromagnetico indoor ed outdoor, e la valutazione dell'esposizione dei lavoratori a campi elettromagnetici in ambienti MRI.
